| Protocol notes | Gel electrophoresis only occurred for 15 minutes due to time constraints |
Results |
|
| Wolbachia presence | Yes |
| Confidence level | Medium |
| Explanation of confidence level | Ant 1 is thought to be positive due to a faint fragment 600BP in size while the positive Wolbachia control and Wolbachia DNA have a fragment 560BP in size. Due to the short time of electrophoresis, it is difficult to confirm if this fragment is a similar size as theĀ positive control and Wolbachia DNA. Ant 2 had no banding associated with Wolbachia and thus was negative. |
