Observations

The pill bug was found near the stream’s bend.

Although the habitat was near the stream, pillbugs live on the land. It was found near the bed of the stream, underneath some of the rocks, near where it was dirty and the rock left a sort of dent in the groun.d.

The pillbug appears to be somewhat rolled up, but not completely stretched out. Also, it looks to be black and brown, and its legs are curled up.

Results

Wolbachia presence No
Confidence level Low
Explanation of confidence level

First, the negative control showed up, which could mean some error in our protocol or materials. Also, in the co1 gel, my sample’s band (sampleB6), which checked if the DNA was from an arthropod, did not show up, leading to my low confidence level, as other results would be inconclusive if my sample did indeed not include arthropod DNA.

Arthropod COI sequence
Summary The Armadillidium vulgare was found to be negative for Wolbachia.
