Captive / Cultivated? | Wild-caught |
Group | Auburn University at Montgomery |
Observations | A very microscopic mite colored a reddish orange with long two front legs located on the front and back of it. Was not able to get a picture due to the microscope preventing a photo from properly being taken. |
Putative identification | Arthropoda Chelicerata Arachnida |
Methods |
|
Extraction kit | DNeasy (Qiagen) blood and tissue kit |
DNA extraction location | Whole arthropod |
Single or Duplex PCR | Single Reaction |
Gel electrophoresis system | Standard electrophoresis system |
Buffer | TBE |
DNA stain | Ethidium Bromide |
Gel images |

Protocol notes | |
Results |
|
Wolbachia presence | No |
Confidence level | Medium |
Explanation of confidence level | While no Wolbachia DNA was found in the gel, the DNA quality after sequencing the specimen was very poor and could indicate some error. |
