| Captive / Cultivated? | Wild-caught |
| Group | Auburn University at Montgomery |
| Observations | A very microscopic mite colored a reddish orange with long two front legs located on the front and back of it. Was not able to get a picture due to the microscope preventing a photo from properly being taken. |
| Putative identification | Arthropoda Arachnida |
Methods |
|
| Extraction kit | DNeasy (Qiagen) blood and tissue kit |
| DNA extraction location | Whole arthropod |
| Single or Duplex PCR | Single Reaction |
| Gel electrophoresis system | Standard electrophoresis system |
| Buffer | TBE |
| DNA stain | Ethidium Bromide |
| Gel images |
|
| Protocol notes | |
Results |
|
| Wolbachia presence | No |
| Confidence level | Medium |
| Explanation of confidence level | While no Wolbachia DNA was found in the gel, the DNA quality after sequencing the specimen was very poor and could indicate some error. |
