Observations | I found this ant on a wood fence very close to some soil/woodchips, trees, and flowers. It was sunny and approximately 70 degrees farenheit. I had trouble finding other ants in the area. |

Protocol notes | samples were ran with positive wolbachia control and negative water control and DNA ladder which goes from 1200bp to 100bp with a bright spot at 700bp. on a piece of parafilm 8 micro liters of DNA and 2 micro liters of loading dye were mixed using a micropipette. The DNA sample was loaded into the gel. The gel was run for 20-30 minutes. |
Results |
|
Wolbachia presence | No |
Confidence level | High |
Explanation of confidence level | The DNA ladder had many bands, the negative control had no bands, the positive control had multiple bands. My Results showed 2 bands, one at the original site and one a little more towards the negative end of the gel. It tested negative for Wolbachia and positive for DNA. |
