Observations

Collected from an exposed ant colony on eroded bluff far from the school building.

  • Sample initially preserved in ethanol, then rinsed before dissection.
  • Buffer ATL, AL, and Proteinase K were used to lyse cells and isolate DNA.
  • DNA then purified with buffers AW1, AW2 and centrifuging with a spin column.
  • DNA then eluted with Buffer AE

Extraction as described above went as planned.
