Observations
  • Location of Collection: Found in sunny, dry area behind the GSU Armstrong greenhouses, 8-minute walk from laboratory. Address is 11935 Abercorn St, Savannah, GA 31419. 
  • Habitat of Collection: Found ants in small, domed mound made of soil, pine needles, and twigs. Large amount of nestled twigs above a large portion of the mound.
  • Collection Method: Gloved Hands and Tray

Explanation of confidence level
  • Rationale:
    • Only 8% of samples for in class  tested for Wolbachia
    • CHIVR’s gel electrophoresis sample did not reflect a Wolbachia 16S gene band 
  • Conclusion:
    • Very low infection probability and my data collection did not support my prediction 
    • CHIVR’s gel electrophoresis sample did not reflect presecnce of Wolbachia 16S gene (lacked 438 bp)
