| Observations |
The subject had four legs, the front legs being significantly longer, brown-yellow coloring, and parallel stripes on its abdomen. The subject was found in a web built between tree branches above a small stream in a forest area, and was secured around 9:00 AM on September 14, 2026, in Marietta, Georgia. It remained stationary while observed in the wild and when it was secured in a container. The subject was inactive until its container was moved, at which point it became very active, rapidly crawling along the container’s walls. When alcohol was added to its container to kill it and prepare it for DNA extraction, it began to stand upright in the alcohol, raising its body out of the alcohol in order to survive. Later, once more alcohol had been added, submerging the subject, the subject appeared to be dead, but began moving again shortly after removal from the alcohol. Longer submergence in alcohol was needed to ensure the subject was dead. |
