Protocol notes

DNA Extraction: We extracted DNA from the bug matter within the abdomen of the specimen.

PCR: We followed to protocol and didn’t notice any mistakes.

Gel Electrophoresis, Arthropod CO1: The first lane contains the DNA ladder. The second and third lanes have DNA from two other specimens. The fourth lane has the DNA from the cockroach (C-3). The fifth and sixth lanes contain positive and negative controls and the seventh lane was our water control.

Gel Electrophoresis, Wolbachia:

The first lane contains the DNA ladder. The second and third lanes contain DNA from two other specimens. The Forth lane has DNA from another specimen. The fourth lane contains DNA from the cockroach (C-3). The fifth and sixth lanes contain positive and negative controls and the seventh lane was our water control.

Results

Wolbachia presence Unknown
Confidence level Medium
Explanation of confidence level

For sample C-3 no band appeared during both the Arthropod CO-1 and Wolbachia gels. This indicates that there was an unsuccessful DNA extraction from the sample.
