| Observations | Collected during late winter and was secured underneath a rock next to the stream. The temperature was 53 degrees F in an aquatic habitat. The arthropod was collected using a dip net and kicking rocks by the stream. The arthropod has a head and first three thoraxes are hardened, 2 fleshy, hairy hooks on the posterior, 3 pairs of segmented legs, gill tufts on abdomen. The specific name of the organism is Hydropsyche betteni. It’s common name is a Common Net Spinning Caddisfly. The organism was stored in ethanol after collection in a microtube. |
