Protocol notes

For this DNA extraction, me and my lab partner followed the protocols listed on the wolbachia project website throughout the course of 4 weeks. We went out and collected our species, then they were frozen and we amplified their DNA after extraction from the abdomen. Using different solutions and buffers, we were able to isolate the DNA and using a gel electrophoresis system, we identified that this wolf spider was wolbachia positive.

Results

Wolbachia presence Yes
Confidence level Low
Explanation of confidence level

We made a mistake and did not enter our DNA ladder, so we don’t have a basis to go off of

Wolbachia 16S sequence
Arthropod COI sequence
Summary The Araneae was found to be postive for Wolbachia.
