The fruit fly is from a captive collection from the Berkshire Community College Campus in Pittsfield, MA. The fruit fly has red eyes, transparent wings.

For the DNA extraction we followed the protocol with no issues. The 1.5ml tubes were in the incubator for 37 minuets. We followed the insect adaptation of the protocol.
