Observations

The animal was caught alive on a windowsill. The sun was shining and the temperature was around 7 °C. The building’s walls are mainly made of wood and the windowsill is covered in aluminium.

Explanation of confidence level

The negative control worked, but the positive one did not. The DNA control also failed. In the case of *Lucilia sericata*, arthropod DNA was detectable, but no Wolbachia DNA. Various deposits (contaminants) can be seen below 438 bp.
It is therefore concluded that the arthropod does not harbour Wolbachia. However, the confidence level is low because the other tests did not work correctly. It is not possible to determine exactly what went wrong, because, on the one hand, various steps worked for some samples but not for others, and, on the other hand, various steps must not have worked properly, as both the positive control and the (+) DNA control failed, although the (+) DNA control was only added at a later stage.
