| Observations | I found this the Pterostichus niger under a trunk in the forest near a path. I collected it in the afternoon, about 3pm. It was a sunny day and it was about 15 degrees outside. The area around the trunk was very dirty and wet. The Pterostichus niger was hiding in the dirt 5cm underneath the ground.
