| Protocol notes | DNA Extraction: I removed a majority of the insect that wasn’t its abdomen so that I could primarily focus on the innards found exclusively in the abdomen. I then took great care to crush it up thoroughly in a solution until I saw minimal/no free-floating big clumps of debris. Lanes:
Analysis: My controls all worked, and while it’s faint, you can see bands for both the Arthropod DNA and the Wolbachia DNA, showing that Wolbachia can be present in Schistocerca americana. |

|
| Wolbachia presence | Yes |
| Confidence level | Medium |
| Explanation of confidence level | I put medium as both the bands for the arthropod and Wolbachia DNA are kinda faint. Controls all worked though. |

| Summary | The Orthoptera was found to be postive for Wolbachia. |
