Protocol notes | DNA extraction: I made sure to crush the abdomen well. I dissected the abdomen out and made sure to not include the exoskeleton. Gel Electrophoresis lanes for CO1 arthropod PCR. 1.100bp Ladder 8. The tenth well was my arthropod sample. 9. The ninth well was my wolbachia sample. 10. The tenth well contained the positive and negative PCR controls. |

|
Wolbachia presence | No |
Confidence level | High |
Explanation of confidence level | All of the controls worked as expected. I had no controls with the protocols and was not surprised by any bands on the gel. Therefore, I am confident my arthropod is not infected with Wolbachia. |
