Observations

I caught this arthropod at the Antioch High School baseball field. I collected it at about 3:00 pm, it was 82 degrees and sunny. This was the only spider I saw in the area.

Putative identification Arthropoda Chelicerata Arachnida Araneae Theridiidae Parasteatoda

Methods

Extraction kit Wizard SV (Promega)
DNA extraction location Whole arthropod
Single or Duplex PCR Duplex Reaction
Gel electrophoresis system
Buffer
DNA stain
Gel images
Protocol notes

We had to freeze our samples and start again another day midway into the lab.

Results

Wolbachia presence Unknown
Confidence level Low
Explanation of confidence level

I am not very confident in my results due to the fact that we ran out of time in the lab, so our samples did not have enough time to fully go through the electrophoresis process. It is difficult to know which bands are arthropod DNA and which are Wolbachia DNA.

Wolbachia 16S sequence
Arthropod COI sequence
