Observations

The fruit Fly was caught in a temperate environment at 11:42am. It was sunny and 70 degrees Fahrenheit. The fly was found on a bush in the shade.

DNA Extraction: The entire body of the fly was crushed because its body was around 2 millimeters in length

Analysis: The fruit fly had two bands on the gel that are suspected to be both an arthropod band and a Wolbachia band. However, the Wolbachia positive control only produced one band, so the results are not definitive.

Explanation of confidence level

The controls for the gel run were not successful, as the Wolbachia positive control should have produced 2 bands (one for Wolbachia and one for an arthropod), but only one band was visible on the gel. Therefore, even though the fly sample produced two bands, it is not conclusive whether one is an arthropod band and the other is a Wolbachia band.
