Observations | Placed a couple pieces of dry cat food on the (screened-in) outdoor kitchen/ lanai floor. Within 24 hrs there were a group of very small red ants surrounding the piece of cat food. There were approximately 10-20 individuals. They moved relatively slowly and without any perceived organization. Within 24-48hrs they would leave that location. Under the dissecting microscope the small ants appeared to have lighter colored (almost see through) abdomens. With very long legs and antennae, as well as very large mandibles. |
