Protocol notes | ArthropodPCR-Gel2: During this PCR round arthropodic DNA was targeted. The relevant sample is located in lane 6. WolbachiaPCR-Gel9: Here wolbachia was targeted. The relevant sample is located in lane 7. The results show that the sample was not infected with wolbachia |
Results |
|
Wolbachia presence | No |
Confidence level | High |
Explanation of confidence level | There is no band which would indicate wolbachia presence. This can be trusted because other samples on the same gel tested positive for wolbachia. The control sample is clearly recognizable as well, which means the PCR-process was successful. (Additionally, since the first round didn‘t generate usable results, the PCR was repeated by the biology teacher, which makes the results more credible.) |

|
Summary | The Sarcophaga carnaria was found to be negative for Wolbachia. |
